ExxonMobil Qatar presented eight Tamayoz training courses in April and May for 177 employees from its partner Qatar Petroleum, joint ventures RasGas and Qatargas, Tasweeq, and Nakilat, the company said in a statement.
Tamayoz embodies ExxonMobil Qatar’s commitment to sharing technical, commercial, and operational expertise with Qatari partners to help build the foundation for a knowledge-based economy, according to ExxonMobil Qatar president and general manager Alistair Routledge.
Routledge said, “We believe that one of the greatest contributions ExxonMobil Qatar can make is to support His Highness the Emir’s vision of creating a sustainable, knowledge-based economy by helping to develop human potential at every stage.
“The Tamayoz training programme has evolved into one that is highly effective at ensuring continued growth for our colleagues and partners in Qatar’s energy industry, through sharing the knowledge of our in-house global experts.”
He added, “The courses create opportunities for industry professionals to grow within their roles, and help them identify and achieve personal and organisational goals. We are proud that the Tamayoz training programme is contributing to cultivating a workforce that is well positioned to create and sustain a brighter future for the country.”
The first comprehensive training programme of its kind in Qatar, Tamayoz focuses on professional and personal development opportunities through six targeted critical competency areas: leadership and personal effectiveness, project management, commercial, operations excellence, technical (surface and subsurface), and safety, health and the environment.
Over the past quarter, ExxonMobil Qatar offered courses in three of the six areas: commercial, technical, and leadership and personal effectiveness. Two of the courses, Negotiation Fundamentals (commercial) and Oil and Gas Production Fundamentals (technical), were offered twice “due to popular demand.”
Other courses included Power Industry Basics (commercial), Finance for Non-Financial Professionals (leadership and personal effectiveness), and technical courses Machinery Principles and Application, and Reservoir Engineering Overview.
“The Tamayoz Negotiation Fundamentals training gave me such a sense of confidence about how to recognise and manage common negotiation dynamics and my own embedded assumptions,” said Sheikh Thamer Thani T M al-Thani, contract analyst, Qatargas.
He added, “By actively engaging the concepts through role play, simulations, and partner exercises, I left the three-day course knowing how to prepare, conduct, and review negotiations in a way that enables me to improve business results. I was excited to implement my new skills both professionally and personally.”
More than 150 Tamayoz training courses have been offered free of charge to ExxonMobil Qatar’s partners and joint ventures, with close to 2,500 individuals receiving training since the inception of the programme in 2012. From January to April 2016, 389 participants benefited from 18 courses, nearly eclipsing the 400 industry professionals reached in 2015 through 35 courses.
