The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has spotted 11 consumer violations at various local retailers, mostly regarding fraud in weight of items, and not posting proper information of the items on display. The surprise inspection campaign covered around 149 outlets in various parts of the country. The violating outlets were issued reports, which could entail fines of QR3,000 to QR1mn, besides administrative closure for varying periods.
