The department concerned at Hamad International Airport (HIA) reported to the Egyptian authorities that a traveller had stolen the expensive watches from HIA duty free shops and headed to Cairo.
When the traveller landed in Cairo, the authorities searched his luggage and found three Rolex watches that matched the description and specifications of the stolen items.
He was arrested and referred to the Egyptian authority concerned to take the necessary legal procedure.
However, another local Arabic daily said that the number of the stolen Rolex watches amounted to 250 and the defendant used to work at a shop at the duty free for seven years.
