Aspire Academy and Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) have signed an agreement to launch a junior football league for school children in Qatar.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Aspire Academy deputy director general Ali Salem Afifa and Mohamed al-Soud, head of Recreation Services, QF Facilities and Community Services, yesterday.
As part of the agreement, Aspire Academy will host the tournament, to run from October to June, giving children in age groups Under-7 to Under-11 the opportunity to play on some of the world-class football pitches and facilities available at Aspire Zone.
“Aspire Academy and Qatar Foundation both play a central role in the realisation of the Qatar National Vision 2030. Both entities actively support and contribute to the Human Development Pillar, through sports and community development respectively,” Afifa said.
Al-Soud added: “We, at Qatar Foundation, are delighted to be joining forces with Aspire Academy. This junior football league represents our ongoing commitment to creating a sports-loving society and to encouraging the community to live healthy, active lifestyles from a young age. Together, we are using football as a platform for change.”
This agreement demonstrates two key national institutions joining forces to position Qatar as a centre of excellence for the development of sports, in particular, football.
