The Al Thumama Health Centre is set to open on Tuesday with plans to register around 10,000 health card holders in its first year.
According to local Arabic daily Arrayah, the eventual target for the centre is 50,000 cardholders.  Dr Fathia al-Meer, director for the central region at Primary Health Care Corporation, said so far 5,000 cardholders had been registered at the new health centre, with 1,077 of them being Qataris and the rest expatriates.  She stressed that the centre, which has around 220 staff members comprising physicians, nurses and administrative employees, would offer comprehensive health services to visitors. It will serve residents of eight surrounding areas within an area of 10sq km.
