The Qatari-Russian Joint Committee for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Co-operation held its second meeting in the Russian capital Moscow yesterday.
Qatar’s delegation to the meeting was led by HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, while the Russian delegation was headed by Minister of Energy Alexander Novak.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Energy and Industry yesterday, the two sides expressed their desire to promote co-operation between the two countries, and their conviction of big potential and opportunities for co-operation available to establish fruitful partnerships between them in several areas.
The two sides agreed that the current level of trade exchange between the two countries is not commensurate with the depth of the bilateral relations and economic potential of both countries. They expressed their desire to increase the volume of trade, cultural and scientific exchange by organising more meetings and mutual visits of businessmen from both sides in order to get acquainted with the investment opportunities available as well as laws that regulate foreign investment in both countries.
The two sides also agreed to continue co-ordination between the public and private sectors in the two countries to enhance their co-operation in the fields of trade, investment, finance, energy, industry, agriculture construction, science, education, culture and business.
A number of businessmen in both Qatar and Russia participated in the business forum, which was held on the sidelines of meetings of the Committee.
At the end of the meeting, HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, and Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak signed the minutes of the meeting.
The two sides agreed to hold the third meeting of the committee in Doha during 2017, in a date to be fixed through the diplomatic channels.
