Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah eats lunch with a Dalit family in Jogiyapur, near Varanasi, as part of the party’s mass contact expansion programme ahead of next year’s assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. The Dalit family is said to be a great supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who represents Varanasi in the Lok Sabha. However, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati criticised Shah, saying the BJP chief was indulging in dramas.
