Algeria’s Minister of Industry and Mines Abdeslam Bouchouareb has urged Qatari businessmen to take advantage of investment opportunities available in his country.
Speaking during a meeting held at the Qatar Chamber headquarters in the presence of QCCI Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Tawar and ambassador of Algeria to Qatar Abdulaziz Saba, Abdeslam Bouchouareb said the sectors where Qatari businessmen could invest include industry, mining, medicines, tourism and services.
Discussions during the meeting focused on ways to develop economic and trade co-operation and explore investment opportunities, in addition to co-ordination between the two sides to intensify visits between businessmen and activating the Qatari-Algerian Joint Business Council.
Bouchouareb noted that his country is characterised by its geographical location and had economic and trade ties and various agreements with the European Union and many African states, praising the role of Qatar Chamber in bringing together the private sectors in both countries.
The QCCI vice-chairman described Qatari-Algerian relations as distinguished and evolving, noting that all conditions are in place to enhance co-operation between the businessmen of both countries.
He described the meeting as a push towards wider horizons to encourage businessmen and investors to explore opportunities available in Algeria, pointing out that the coming period will witness a variety of meetings between the two sides to strengthen the partnership between them.
The two sides agreed to organise a forum to bring together businessmen from both countries on the sidelines of Qatar-Algeria Joint Higher Committee meeting scheduled to be held at the end of this year to discuss effective partnerships in various areas of interest and activate the Qatari-Algerian Joint Business Council.
