Domasco, the authorised distributor for Honda in Qatar, made the first delivery of the new Honda Africa Twin motorbikes recently.
In a statement yesterday, Domasco said the “long-awaited and much-anticipated legend” arrived in Qatar in late April and they made the first delivery to two riders.
Wrapped in a steel double-cradle frame, the engine’s compact dimensions allow other components to be mounted closer to the centre of machine - centralising the mass and lowering the centre of gravity.
The bike also comes with a “class-leading” 250mm ground clearance for off-road excursions.
“The much-anticipated new Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin meets the extraordinarily high expectations set by adventure riding enthusiasts. The strong 1,000cc parallel twin has a 4-valve Unicam head design. It delivers handfuls of torque so satisfying and addictive that it will tempt riders to break free from the tarmac at the earliest opportunity.Dual spark plugs per cylinder, a lightweight camshaft – made from the same material proven in the Fireblade – and a 270° phased crankshaft gives this bike a distinctive feel and character all of its own,” the statement explained.
Greig Roffey, head of sales and marketing for Domasco Honda, welcomed the customers at the Honda showroom.
“The Africa Twin is a bike that’s as impressive as the desert itself. This unique, light and agile combination of power and handling sets new standards for adventure bikes,” he said.
Faisal Sharif, managing director at Domasco, noted: “The legend lives on! The new Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin will revolutionise the way we look at motorcycles and specifically those with off-road capabilities. We are delighted to make our first delivery to our passionate customers who seek the true spirit of adventure and the ability to go anywhere.”
Ali al-Sulaiti, who bought the manual version of the bike, said: “Up or downhill, or off-road, the Africa Twin is the perfect companion wherever the journey takes you. I am thrilled that Domasco brought the new Africa Twin to Qatar.”
Frank Grobler, who purchased the DCT (dual clutch transmission) version, said: “It provides everything I want from my motorbike. I’ve selected this bike as Honda is known for reliability and Domasco never ceases to amaze me with their after-sales support services.”
