Qatar University College of Engineering (QU CENG) honoured its academically distinguished students named on the Dean’s List at a celebratory ceremony held recently. 
A total of 486 distinguished students (218 men and 268 women), who obtained 3.5 GPA or higher, received their certificates from CENG dean Dr Khalifa al-Khalifa for their “outstanding performance” during the Fall or Spring 2015 semester.
Also present were the college’s associate dean for academic affairs Dr Mohammed Samaka, associate dean for development and industrial relations Dr Saud Ghani and assistant dean for student affairs Waled Mukahel, as well as faculty, students and their families. 
In his remarks, Dr al-Khalifa said: “You are here because you have demonstrated the level of academic distinction and quality for which QU is well-known. This event aligns with CENG’s main objective, which is to provide the State of Qatar with highly-qualified engineers to meet the needs of the local and regional market. 
“It also shows the college’s ongoing commitment to offering its students the opportunity to excel and achieve their goals and contribute to Qatar’s growth and progress, in line with national priorities towards the achievement of a knowledge-based economy and the Qatar National Development Strategy.”
Mohamed al-Subaiey from the Mechanical Engineering Programme said, “This achievement showcases CENG’s commitment to preparing well-rounded and competent professionals who will provide knowledge and experience to fulfil the needs of the Qatari society, and who will drive the country’s future towards a knowledge-based economy.”
Nada Mamdouh Adawi from the Industrial and Systems Engineering Programme added, “This achievement motivates me to work hard and maximise my potential to reach my goals towards success.”
