A woman customs officer at Hamad International Airport has foiled an attempt to smuggle into the country 3.277kg of the illicit drug marijuana.
The contraband was found wrapped in carbon paper and hidden in the suitcase of a traveller. The marijuana was seized and the traveller referred to the security department concerned to take the necessary legal procedures.
Ahmed bin Ali al-Muhannadi, president of the General Authority of Customs, honoured the officer who managed to spot the smuggler and lauded her alertness.
