Children and parents enjoyed a “fun-filled” afternoon at the Qatar Museums (QM) Gallery Al Riwaq on Saturday. The workshop, organised by QM under the leadership of its chairperson HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, was held as part of Qatar Museums’ latest exhibition, “What About the Art? Contemporary Art From China”. The exhibition, which features the works of 15 contemporary Chinese artists, is curated by renowned Chinese artist Cai-Guo Qiang and will be on show at the QM Gallery Al Riwaq, situated in the Museum of Islamic Art Park, until July 16. During the workshop, delivered by QM’s Education team, children and parents explored the exhibition together and took part in an art-making workshop, where they made their own clay sculptures inspired by the work of Chinese artist Hu Zhijun. The workshops, which are being held from 3-5pm every Saturday until June 4, form part of QM’s “continuous efforts to provide dynamic exhibition activities that appeal to diverse audiences, fostering an indigenous culture of creativity and innovation”, according to a statement.
