HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has sent a message to Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, pertaining to bilateral relations and the means of enhancing them.  
Qatar’s ambassador to Croatia Sheikha Moza bint Nasser al-Thani conveyed the message when the Croatian president met her at the Presidential Palace in Zagreb yesterday.  
Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral relations and the ways of promoting them.

Independence Day greetings
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to Paraguay President Horacio Cartes on his country’s Independence Day.

FM receives message from Thai counterpart

HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani received a message from Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand Don Pramudwinai relating to bilateral relations between Qatar and Thailand and ways of enhancing them.
The message was received by HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi during a meeting yesterday with Thailand’s ambassador to Qatar Soonthorn Chaiyindeepum.
The meeting was attended by a number of the Foreign Ministry’s officials.

Advisory Council delegation leaves for Kuwait
A delegation from the Advisory Council left Doha yesterday for Kuwait to take part in the 19th meeting of GCC secretaries general of Shura and Parliamentary councils, due to kick off today.  
The meeting will discuss topics listed on its agenda, including the follow-up of implementation of the decisions and recommendations agreed upon by GCC secretaries general of Shura and Parliamentary councils in their 18th meeting in Doha, in addition to discuss the subject of parliamentary diplomacy.
HE the Secretary General of the Advisory Council Fahad bin Mubarak al-Khayareen is heading the Qatari delegation to the meeting.

Doha to host conference on Arab-Sino ties
Doha will host next Saturday an academic conference on the Arab-Sino relations, to be organised by the Arab Centre for Research and Policy Studies.
Building on a series of previous conferences which focused on relations between the Arab world and other regions and countries, “The Arabs and China” will afford a venue for scholars to discuss the long history and the future prospects of relations between the Arab countries and peoples, and China, the Centre said in a statement.
The two-day conference will focus on a wide range of topics, concerning Chinese involvement in Middle Eastern issues and economic and trade relations between Arab oil exporting countries and China.
The centre noted that the “Belt and Road” initiative which China launched in 2013 to revive the ancient Silk Road represents an opportunity to enhance Arab-Chinese relations.

Armed forces training exercise
The General Command of the Qatari Armed Forces yesterday announced that the Emiri Air Force will conduct an air transport exercise at an altitude of  8,000 feet, in the Sealine area tomorrow from 6am to 10am.   
The general command has called on visitors to the area to take precautions.

Qatar-Portugal bilateral relations reviewed
President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has met Qatar’s ambassador to Portugal Adel Ali al-Khal along with heads of Arab diplomatic missions.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them, in addition to matters of common interest.

Two men get three-month jail for assaulting driver
Two men have been sentenced to three months in jail by a Doha Criminal Court for physically assaulting a driver, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday.
The defendants talked in an insulting manner to a company driver who was offloading his cargo of goods. An argument ensued and they started physically attacking him, causing some injuries before they ran away. The victim called the police who arrested the defendants and brought them to trial.
