Qatar University College of Engineering (QU CENG) yesterday announced that its students won several awards in different national and international competitions recently.
Commenting on the achievements, CENG dean Dr Khalifa al-Khalifa insisted that winning such awards was an important indicator of the college’s high-quality outputs and the students’ capabilities. “Achieving top places in these competitions refers to the high-level of academic teaching at CENG in addition to the training students receive from supervisrs, and show students’ capacities and abilities.”
Moza al-Mesaifri, Amna Mehawesh and Mooza al-Nisf won the Best Poster award at the eighth Annual Undergraduate Research Conference on Applied Computing (URC2016) under the supervision of Department of Computer Science and Engineering professor Dr Ali Jaoua.
Mohamed al-Khateeb, Mohamed Taha, Ammar Nofal and Mohamed Hkan won the first place in the innovation category in Imagine Cup 2016 with their project XBlink, which was supervised by Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering associate professor Dr John-John Cabibihan.
Mudassir Saleem, Ali Abbas, Walid Jaber and Mohamed Khodadady, owners of the Focus project, won first place in the gaming category in Imagine Cup 2016. The project was supervised by Department of Electrical Engineering associate professors Dr Faycal Bensaali and Dr Tamer Mohamed Samir M Khattab.
AlKhuzama Salman al-Harami, Roda Mohamed al-Muslim and Aysha Saeed al-Mansoori won the first place in the GCC Engineering Students Design Competition 2016 through their project, “An Intelligent Sensing System for Healthcare Applications”. The project was run under the supervision of Department of Computer Science and Engineering professor Dr Abbes Amira and associate professor Dr Uvais Ahmed Qidwai.
Abdalla Khaled Radwan and Abdalla Ahmed Hares, supervised by MIE head Prof Elsadig Mahdi, bagged the first place in the GCC Engineering Students Design Competition 2016. The project was titled “Designing and Validating of Whiplash Prevention System”.
