A new Labour Health Centre and a Medical Commission unit that together can cater to more than 40,000 people a month have been officially opened at Mesaimeer.
HE Dr. Hanan Mohammad al-Kuwari, Minister of Public Health, inaugurated the health centre and the Medical Commission Unit attached to it. A number of officials from the health ministry and Qatar Red Crescent attended the opening.
The health centre has the capacity to receive 32,000 visitors per month, and an additional 11,000 visitors in the medical commission unit.The centre is operated by Qatar Red Crescent under an agreement with the Ministry of Public Health.
HE al-Kuwari said that Qatar was keen on providing the best treatment and preventive healthcare services for the country's residents. She stressed that workers are provided with healthcare services of a high standard.

The minister pointed out that the Mesaimeer centre was one of the ministry’s many healthcare projects for single workers which include four health centres, three modern hospitals, as well as Medical Commission units.
Mesaimeer Labour Health Centre consists of 12 general clinics, specialised clinics in the fields of occupational medicine, internal medicine, ophthalmology, ENT, chronic diseases, dermatology, cardiac diseases, lung diseases, and five dental clinics.
The centre includes a bandaging and minor surgery room, and an acute cases section that has 12 beds. Moreover, there are medical laboratories for vital and chemical analyses, blood and microscopic analyses in addition to a radiology section, a pharmacy, mental health services, health education services, and infectious and communicable diseases control.
The centre’s reception can accommodate about 300 visitors at a time. It also includes a lecture hall and administrative offices; the health centre is built on 13382 sq metres of land, which comprises a mosque, staff accommodation and a cafeteria. There are 135 employees, 80% of them medical professionals.
The Medical Commission unit at the new centre includes a medical laboratory, a radiology section, a reception hall with a capacity of 200 visitors and administrative offices. The unit’s staff consists of 60 employees, 80% of whom are from the medical profession.
