Qatar Rail has won International Environment Management Award from the International Safety Quality Environment Management Association (ISQEM), a UK-based professional association.
According to a Qatar Rail release, the latest award is in recognition of the company’s commitment to actively pursuing best environmental management practices in the areas of leadership, training, staff engagement, in-house expertise, control of environmental impacts and continuous improvement.
Hamad al-Bishri, deputy chief executive officer, Qatar Rail, said, “We are delighted to be recognised for our efforts in environmental management. This award validates our ongoing commitment to our leadership team, staff and stakeholders in implementing best-in-class environmental management systems and meeting the standards set by professional organisations such as the International Safety Quality Environment 
Management Association.”
Wayne Harris, chairman, ISQEM, congratulated Qatar Rail on its outstanding success. “The International Environment Management Awards rightly reflects the importance of organisations who are aiming for environment management improvements within their operations. Qatar Rail should rightly be proud of its achievement.”
The ISQEM is a UK registered non-profit making organisation contributing to the enhancement of safety quality and environmental management on a global scale. The association is fully international with over 30,000 members from the UK, the USA, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, who have come together to ensure that the three key areas of management represented by safety, quality and environment are being raised and improved worldwide. 
Following its establishment in 2011, Qatar Rail is leading one of the largest rail projects in the world.
