Qatar Foundation (QF) will host its third annual Teaching and Learning Forum today at Qatar National Convention Centre.
The event is dedicated to “enhancing Qatar’s teaching profession by enriching leadership skills both within and outside the classroom, thereby promoting lifelong learning”, according to a statement.
Organised by the Education Development Institute (EDI), which falls under QF’s Pre-University Education, the event is part of QF’s wider professional development strategy. It is designed to further enhance the national education system by providing educators with the opportunity to share knowledge and discuss best practice.
Sheikha Noof Ahmed bin Saif al-Thani, executive director of EDI at the Pre-University Education, highlighted the importance of the event, saying: “The overarching aim of the annual Teaching and Learning Forum is to encourage teachers in Qatar to share their knowledge and expertise with other educators. Through this event, we are hoping to empower teachers, helping them reach their full potential, while simultaneously nurturing excellence and unlocking the capabilities of the young men and women of tomorrow.”
Alongside a series of leadership workshops, the forum will feature sessions designed to equip teachers with the necessary skills and tools to help unlock the potential of their learners. Some of the topics set to be addressed include early childhood education, innovation and best practice in Arabic language teaching, innovation and best practice in any subject and technological or non-technological techniques.
This year’s keynote speakers are Professor Andy Hargreaves, Thomas More Brennan Chair in the Lynch School of Education and professor in the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, and Dr Simon Breakspear, founder and CEO of LearnLabs, a global learning research and design agency.
Dr Simon has advised educational leaders across 10 countries, helping individuals navigate disruptive change, develop innovation capabilities and drive continuous improvement for improved learning.
