Qatar and Turkey signed a co-operation agreement in the military field yesterday following a round of official talks chaired by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani and the visiting Turkish Prime Minister Dr Ahmet Davutoglu in Doha.

The official talks and the agreement signing ceremony, held in the Emiri Diwan, were attended by Qatari ministers and members of the official delegation accompanying the Turkish prime minister.   
In a speech he delivered during the session of talks, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior said: “We look forward today, during our meeting, to continue efforts to enhance the excellent and deep-rooted bilateral relations over the decades, which have witnessed a steady development in political, economic, security, cultural and other fields”. 
The Prime Minister stressed that the security agreement, signed between the two sides yesterday, “will consolidate the solid relations between the two countries, reflecting the aspirations of our people for progress and prosperity”. 
Turkish Prime Minister Dr Ahmet Davutoglu hailed the “historic’ and ‘ideal’ bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and Turkey, describing the ties between the two countries’ leaders and peoples as “brotherly”. 
He praised the “complementary” relations between the two countries and bilateral co-operation at all levels, particularly in investment, economy and energy sectors. 
The visit of President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to Qatar has resulted in the signing of a number of important agreements between the two sides, which have a strategic impact, the Turkish premier said, hoping that there will be Turkish investments in the State of Qatar in all areas. 
Dr Davutoglu said he looks forward to Turkish companies entering the Qatari market and having a share in the investments in all areas such as the World Cup, defence industries and energy. 
During the official talks, the two sides discussed relations between Qatar and Turkey and means of enhancing them in various fields, especially economic, security and cultural, as well as the regional and international developments along with issues of mutual interest, especially the developments in the Middle East. 
Later, HH the Emir held a luncheon banquet in honour of Turkish prime minister and his accompanying delegation.  
The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani attended the banquet.
