The Sidra Medical and Research Centre (Sidra) Out Patient Clinics will charge the patients for the clinical services, an official has clarified.
“There are three modes for payment. Patients can either use their Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) health card or through approved private insurances or pay through cash, credit or debit card.”
Sidra clinics will accept HMC health card from Qataris referred for health services.
This form of payment will remain in place until a new insurance programme for nationals is developed.
Expatriates with Qatar Residence Permit (RP) can also use their HMC health card to access many of Sidra’s services if those services are not provided elsewhere and the patient does not have other insurance coverage or has exhausted their coverage.
These services will be reviewed with the patient and family at the time of referral or during registration. When the HMC health card is accepted in place of insurance, Sidra will only require payments similar to those charged at HMC facilities.
However, expatriates with RP and HMC health card will be required to provide a declaration of private health insurance coverage statement from their primary sponsor stating they have no other insurance coverage.
As for private insurance, Sidra will directly bill the insurance companies with which it has provider agreements. If not, the patient will be responsible for paying for services at the time of the appointment.
The registration staff will assist in completing the necessary paperwork so that the patient may receive reimbursement from the insurance company concerned.
Sidra will accept cash, credit or debit cards for all the services in the absence of the above facilities.
Patients will have the opportunity to inquire about prices at the time of scheduling or registration as pricing will depend on the service required.
