Customers of Qatar Duty Free (QDF) and UnionPay International can avail of a 10% discount when they shop at the travel retailer’s outlets at Hamad International Airport (HIA) until October 15, it has been announced.
Passengers holding UnionPay International cards will be entitled to the discount across QDF’s selection of designer labels, fashion and gourmet foods, set out over 40,000sqm.
The promotion will benefit passengers travelling through HIA to and from many destinations, including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. As China has become the world’s largest source for global tourism, UnionPay cardholders from China are able to “enjoy convenient and privileged payment experiences at Hamad International Airport,” according to a statement.
Luis Gasset, senior vice-president, QDF, said: “Qatar Duty Free is delighted to partner with UnionPay International to offer our customers this benefit. We are always looking for opportunities to reward our customers and offer them a memorable shopping experience at Qatar Duty Free. We know that, for our Chinese travellers, having access to an extensive range of competitively priced brands and professional customer service is important, and that is why we endeavour to offer bespoke promotions and guided shopping tours that appeal to their desire for the latest trends.”
At QDF, Chinese language-dedicated staff, who converse in Mandarin, Cantonese and other Chinese dialects, are available to lead passengers around HIA showcasing their favourite brands and products.
Wang Han, general manager of UnionPay International Middle East, said: “UnionPay International and Qatar Duty Free have a strong relationship and this new campaign is building on the success of previous promotions for customers at Hamad International Airport. We believe that the benefit of this discount at Qatar Duty Free will offer UnionPay cardholders better travelling experiences in Qatar.”
Qatar Duty Free’s hub, HIA, was recently announced as the world’s fifth “Best Airport for Shopping” at the 2016 Skytrax World Airport Awards. The “wide selection of luxury and affordable brands in Qatar Airways’ in-flight duty free programmes was commended, together with competitive prices and outstanding customer service levels,” the statement noted.
