Around 300 pharmacy professionals and students attended the first collaborative pharmacy conference ‘Promoting Patient Safety through Pharmacy, Technology and Research’, held by HMC in collaboration with Qatar University College of Pharmacy and Robert Gordon
University School of Pharmacy (UK).
The conference shared the latest advances in pharmacy and prominent local and international speakers from across Qatar, the Middle East and North Africa region, the UK and the USA were invited to share their
knowledge with attendees.
Dr Moza al-Hail, executive director of Pharmacy for HMC said, “The conference reinforces the importance of patient safety and providing a forum for pharmacy students and professionals to learn from, collaborate with, and be inspired by each other. I am confident that learnings from the conference will continue to advance pharmacy
practice in the region and beyond.”
The conference also proved to be very valuable in further developing the knowledge and skills of the pharmacy students and faculty attendees.
Qatar University College of Pharmacy dean Prof Ayman El-Kadi said, “The conference gave students great insight into the latest pharmacy practices and demonstrated the importance of continuously striving for ways to improve patient safety. It was a great opportunity for students to hear from experts in the pharmacy field from across the world and for the faculty to collaborate with HMC and Robert Gordon University
at this inaugural conference.”
Prof Derek Stewart from Robert Gordon University School of Pharmacy added that the conference was valuable in encouraging collaboration between pharmacy professionals from a number of different organisations.
