Motorists have called for more fuel stations in Doha, with many stressing the need for such facilities along F-Ring Road.
As a temporary measure, the authorities could explore the possibility of providing mobile fuel stations along the road to meet the fuel requirements, the motorists said.
This could continue until permanent fuel stations come up there, they felt.
The arterial road, which has helped improve connectivity between Hamad International Airport and places such as Mesaimeer and the Industrial Area, does not have a fuel station on either side.
“This causes much inconvenience to those who use the road regularly,” a motorist pointed out.
Traffic movement on F-Ring Road has increased manifold since it opened more than 15 months ago. A large number of vehicles coming from the Industrial Area, Mesaimeer, Barwa City and other places use the road to reach the eastern side of Doha. Trucks and trailers are among the vehicles that use the road regularly.
The road, however, lacks a fuel station despite the increasing traffic. Urging the authorities concerned to open one at the earliest, commuters said the number of cars using the road was expected to increase in the coming days.
Many of those who use the road frequently live in Al Thumama, a fast-developing neighbourhood located between F-Ring Road and E-Ring Road, and their growing numbers will further increase the demand for fuel, say residents.
According to earlier reports, there were plans to set up a new fuel station in Al Thumama by the end of this year.
A large number of people living in Barwa City and other complexes in the Mesaimeer area are also said to be using the route regularly to reach the airport and other areas of eastern Doha.
