HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi reaffirmed the right of students with visual impairment, especially the blind to get health-related knowledge and cancer-related medical information in particular to help them in disease prevention and treatment.  
The Minister of Education praised the efforts of the government under the leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani in providing people with special needs with quality education and integrated comprehensive healthcare.
The Minister was speaking while releasing three Braille awareness booklets published by the Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) in collaboration with the Qatar Social and Cultural Centre for the Blind.
The three booklets aim at raising the awareness on cancer amongst the visually impaired students.
The Minister of Education and Higher Education and QCS Chairman Dr Sheikh Khalid bin Jabor al-Thani signed the three booklets in the presence of senior officials of the Ministry and the Society.
The Minister lauded the QCS efforts and its leading role in promoting awareness among educational community on cancer and its causes and consequences as well as on how to prevent and treat it, praising in this regard the use of all the means of modern scientific methods in providing the necessary information to the community starting with early diagnosis of the disease and raising awareness to reduce its rates in the Qatari society.
The Minister also praised the valuable scientific information included in the booklets, pointing out that Qatar Cancer Society’s efforts will be integrated with the role of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education which places people with special needs at the top of its priorities and provides them all the services in accordance with the best international standards.  
Dr Sheikh Khalid bin Jabor al-Thani highlighted the importance attached by QCS to raising awareness among all segments of society about cancer in general and cancer risk factors and prevention methods in particular, as well as on nutrition and its role in the prevention of the disease.
