National Car Company, the sole distributor of Hyundai vehicles in Qatar, has officially announced the introduction of the all-new Hyundai Elantra in the country.
It is the newest edition of the “brand’s best-selling model in Africa and the Middle East”, according to a statement.
“The sixth generation of this compact sedan is set to reaffirm Hyundai’s position as the region’s second biggest car maker, combining dynamic styling and high-quality materials at an affordable price point,” the statement noted.
Sheikh Ahmad bin Nasser al-Thani, president director of National Car Company, said: “The introduction of the all-new Elantra during these challenging times will certainly boost Hyundai’s market share and give a distinctive edge in the highly competitive market place.
“The sporty and dynamic all-new Elantra is a true reflection of Hyundai’s brand message, ‘New Thinking, New Possibilities’, and will be definitely accepted by the younger generation with its design and class-leading features.”
Jin (James) Kim, vice-president and head of operations for Hyundai Africa and Middle East, noted: “Since its arrival in 1990, the Elantra has proven a big hit with customers across Africa and the Middle East thanks to its sporty looks, high standards of equipment and premium build quality.
“The latest edition showcases the company’s commitment to developing stylish compact cars that are equipped with advanced features, and will allow us to continue to excel in the compact sedan segment.”
The model boasts of “class-defining interior and refined exterior features” that reflect Hyundai’s evolving design philosophy. “This vision incorporates a dynamic precision in exterior design that complements the new model’s comfortable, contemporary and sporty feel. The large hexagonal grille is paired with slim and sporty headlights for an energetic look, while its clean surfaces build on the active stance of the model,” the statement added.
The all-new Elantra is 40mm longer and 5mm wider than its predecessor and delivers a spacious interior. The body structure has been designed to boost durability and rigidity, incorporating 53% more advanced high-strength steel.
The model will be available from launch with two engines – 2.0 MPI and 1.6 MPI. All the powertrain options offer high-fuel efficiency, emphasising Hyundai Motor’s continued commitment to creating eco-friendly vehicles, according to the statement.
The new car features convenience and safety features such as rear AC ventilation, which enhances passenger comfort, while electric folding outside mirrors allow motorists to park conveniently in tight parking areas.
Safety technologies include rear parking sensors, rear view camera, airbags, ABS, Motor Driven Power Steering, giving smooth, stable handling and better responses at different speeds, and LED daytime running lights (DRLs).
Optional features include the Integrated Memory Seat, which enhances driver comfort, while Smart Trunk allows easy loading as it opens automatically when the smart key-holder approaches.
In addition, a new suite of safety technologies includes front parking sensor, knee airbag, LED DRLs, a blind spot detection system and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
Foreign Minister sends invitation
to IMO chief
HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani has sent an invitation to ambassador William Lacy Swing, Director General of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), to take part in the Doha Forum which will be held on 21- 23 May 2016.
The Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office and other international organisations in Geneva, Faisal bin Abdullah al-Henzab, handed the invitation during a meeting with the IOM Director General.
Talks during the meeting dealt with prospects of co-operation and a number issues of common concern.
