A Doha Criminal Court has jailed a woman director of a private education centre for three months on charges of committing fraud, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported.

The court also fined the education centre QR100,000 on the same charges. The woman was accused of fraud by a student who registered at the education centre for a foreign university's course. The victim complained that she made a down payment of QR30,000 to study for the first year, underwent coaching and later took the end of course exams.

However, when she asked for her exam result, the centre did not comply, prompting her to file a complaint at the police station accusing the director and the centre of fraud. Upon further investigation by the prosecution, it was proven that the director and the centre had practised fraud and duped the victim.
