A week after picking up his first victory this season at Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC), Jassim Ghazali-trained Third Dimension was guided to yet another victory yesterday, this time winning the Mesaimeer Cup, a Class 2 conditions race for thoroughbreds.

Action from the Maseela Races held yesterday at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club.

The Dubawi gelding was guided to victory by champion jockey Harry Bentley on the dirt track at QREC, with Marco Monteriso-ridden Zman Awal in the second position ahead of Tarrafal in third.
The win was second on the day for Ghazali and Bentley.
Earlier, Injaaz Stud’s Al Marboush picked up his second victory this season under Bentley when the Amer progeny raced to an impressive five-length victory in the Purebred Arabian Graduation Plate event.
Ghazali’s six-year-old charge won the six-furlong event ahead of Bahia Du Barthas, ridden by Alberto Sanna, and al-Dhafea’s Shmoos.
Ibrahim al-Malki-trained horses — Al Qatari and Mowhoubat Al Zaidy — took a one-two in the Purebred Arabian Handicap event for horses rated 50-80, with Cedric Segeon’s ride Al Qatari picking up a close win over the latter, ridden by Alan Munro.
The two horses were in the league of their own as Hilal Kobeissi-trained Derzkiy finished nine lengths behind in third position.
Qatari jockey Faleh Bughanaim guided M al-Ramzani-trained Cueca for her second victory this season, when the bay mare won the six-furlong Thoroughbred Handicap event, a Class 5 race for horses rated 50-70.
Bughanaim was also at the helm when Cueca shed her maiden status in February this year, and yesterday the five-year-old edged out Ibrahim al-Malki-schooled Arguia and Osama Omar al-Dhafea’s Dubai Star for a fine win.
Al-Dhafea’s bay mare Tautira was ridden to her first victory at the QREC racecourse by jockey Alberto Sanna.
Sanna guided the five-year-old to a two and a half length win ahead of Khalid Jassim’s Atori and Wasim Mohamed al-Sahen’s Qatar Breeze in the Class 6 Thoroughbred Handicap event for horse rated 60 & below.
In the first race of the day, Al Jeryan Stud’s AJS Buraq shed his maiden status on his fourth career outing. After finishing 10th on his debut at the age of five in December 2015, the bay horse has shown his liking for the dirt, winning the Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate over six furlongs.
Pier Convertino rode AJS Buraq to a five-length victory ahead of Abeah, under Adrie de Vries, while TM Majid Texas finished third.
Amongst the thoroughbreds, Zuhair Mohsen’s charge Raj To Riches shed his maiden status after 7 winless outings at the Al Rayyan racecourse.
Stephan Ladjadj rode the chestnut colt to a four-length victory with Al Zekreet Racing’s King Of Doha and and Ghazali’s charge Rock Heroine rounding up the top three in the a mile and a furlong Thoroughbred Maiden Plate event.
