Domasco, the authorised distributor for Honda cars in Qatar, held a series of desert drives last month to showcase the off-roading capabilities of the all-new 2016 Honda Pilot.
The event was organised for potential customers to “immerse themselves in a unique test drive experience”, according to a statement.
A convoy of seven cars headed from Doha to the Sealine desert, enabling the participants to experience both the on-road and off-road capabilities of the new Honda Pilot. The convoy was led by Abdulla al-Louh, a professional desert driver.
For many in the group, this was their first off-road experience.
As the group assembled for their departure, Greig Roffey, head of sales and marketing for Domasco Honda, welcomed everyone and provided them with some tips on desert driving. The convoy reached the Wyndham Regency camp, where the group spent time relaxing with the Domasco team, enjoying a day of food, conversation and adventure.
The Pilot’s Intelligent Traction Management system provides drivers with a number of condition-specific presets for the throttle response, shift mapping and stability control to maximise performance on the selected terrain.
“With pushbutton mode selection between normal, snow, sand and mud, the Pilot offers an amplified performance on deep sand and rough terrain,” the statement noted. “The first time off-roaders were able to tackle rough terrains with ease while relishing the spacious and luxurious interior of the Pilot.”
“Organising this adventure for our potential customers, in order to give them a firsthand experience of the enviable off-road performance of the Pilot, was a pleasure for us. With the Sand Mode selected and the tyres deflated, the customers were able to cruise over the dunes and tackle all the obstacles that got in their way with ease,” said Roffey.
