President of Sudan Omar Hassan al-Basheer praised the role of Qatar in implementing the Doha Peace agreement in Darfur.
He said that Qatar understood the problem and worked patiently on offering solutions that helped regain peace and stability to the region. Al-Basheer, who was speaking to Sudanese people in West Darfur State, expressed his appreciation of the role Qatar played to help regain peace in the region.
He added that it was Qatar’s efforts regionally and internationally that made peace in Darfur possible. Additionally, Qatar also established Darfur Development Bank to help finance massive projects in Darfur. He added that the projects financed by Qatar helped transform Darfur from aid-based to a productive economy.
Al-Basheer said the Doha agreement helped the people of Darfur avoid war.
