Dubbed as the premium festival of colours in town, Range Barse is back. The organisers of the mega entertainment event promise to make it one-of-its-kind event happening annually.
Range Barse 2016, the signature event of Red Apple Media and Events, will enter its fifth year, featuring some of the big names from Bollywood and Indian music industry.
“Last year there was a record turn-out of over 4,000 people, who were a mix different nationalities. This year being our fifth, we have booked head lining acts from all the past editions of Rang Barse making it the biggest line up of artists Doha has ever witnessed for an event of similar stature,” Jassim Mohammed, CEO Red Apple Events and Media, told media here at a press conference recently. He was accompanied by Nitin Bhatia, Divisional Manager Maretti and Motto Event (sponsor), and Shereen Tariq, COO Red Apple Events and Media.
The fifth edition of this fun-filled festival promises to be bigger and better, right from a fantastic line-up to an unbelievable 1.5 tons of a variety of organic colours. This year, the event will headline Bollywood actor, dancer, singer and anchor Javed Jaffrey.
Accompanying him will be India’s biggest prankster and host Danish Sait, who has the reputation of owning India’s biggest sound cloud accounts with over 20 million followers.
“We have Hanif Aslam and Crew from Coke Studio on the percussion who as always will be jamming with the DJs taking crowd on a musical trip they will remember for a very long time,” said Mohammed.
Javed Jaffrey is known for donning various hats such as actor, dancer, singer, choreographer, VJ, emcee, and ad filmmaker, among others. He is the son of popular comedian Jagdeep and Javed carries on the tradition of humour with his comedic style.
He made his debut in Meri Jung in 1985 in a negative role. His performance in the song Bol Baby Bol Rock & Roll showcased his dancing skills. He garnered a huge fan-following, inspiring the new generation of dancers. He has acted in over 35 films, both Indian and international, winning awards from Screen and IIFA.
The launch of Channel V and its irreverent sense of humour gave Jaaved a platform to demonstrate his unique brand of comedy on television in the 1990s. Incorporating puns, impersonations, characters, accents, and introducing the now-ubiquitous Hinglish, he anchored the two cult shows Videocon Flashback and Timex Timepass.
Javed co-founded and judged India’s first dance reality show Boogie Woogie, which has broken records and is the longest running dance show at 15 years.
He has hosted award shows like Filmfare, SCREEN and IIFA. Javed has performed in over 200 live shows in India and abroad, and shared the stage with Michael Jackson, Sting, Spice Girls and Queen and top Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Sharukh Khan, AR Rahman, Anil Kapoor, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and others.
He constantly changes his styles and appearance and bedazzles live, film, and TV audiences with his brand of uproarious humour, while maintaining a non-controversial and squeaky-clean image.
He is also hosting Big Googly on BIG 92.7FM created with Paritosh Painter. He has been honoured with the life membership of International Film And Television Club of Asian Academy of Film & Television.
He anchored the show Videocon Flashback with distinctive brilliance. His deadpan expressions and bilingual puns give him a formidable fan following. Another notable contribution by Jaffrey is his performance as an anchor to the top-of-the-charts song programme, Timex Timepass, in which he shifted between the caricatures of characters.
Jaafri won his first IIFA Award for best comic role in film Salaam Namaste in 2006.
Rang Barse, set to take place at the Marriot hotel today at 3pm, will maintain its exotic Indian theme with rustic decor, food stalls and colour stalls.
“The event is for families and there is no age restriction. Tickets are priced at QR150 presale and QR 200 on the door. Tickets are available online at Q-tickets and can be purchased from Doha Rocks Café, Zaffran Café, Aalishan Restaurant and Doha Marriott Lobby,” said the CEO of Red Apple.
