Strong winds and thundershowers are expected in the country today along with a drop in temperature, the Qatar Met Department has said.
Offshore areas, too, are likely to experience strong winds, high seas and isolated thunderstorms today, according to the weather report.
Weather charts show that Dukhan and Al Ruwais are among the places where rain is expected today, while the mercury level will dip across the country, including in Doha.
In a post on its social media channels yesterday, the Met Department said chances of isolated rain (thundery at times) would continue until Friday morning, reaching its peak on Thursday.
The forecast for inshore areas today says partly-cloudy to cloudy conditions are likely and there is a chance of scattered rain, which may be accompanied by thunder by night. Slight to blowing dust is also expected in some places. The wind speed in these areas may go up to 30 knots at times.
Offshore areas, meanwhile, will also remain partly cloudy to cloudy today. There is a chance of scattered rain as well, which may be thundery at times. The wind speed in these areas may reach 35 knots during the thundershowers, with the sea level rising to 12ft.
The minimum and maximum temperatures in the country today are expected to be 20C and 29C, respectively, with the forecast for Doha being 23C and 28C.
