Qatar launched their Singapore trip on a positive note, beating the hosts in the first Twenty20 International match by three wickets in the final over.
Taimoor Sajjad was the star of the match for the tourists as he dismissed half the home team and restricted them to a small total of 118 for nine in 20 overs. Apart from Taimoor, Awais Malik, Shehab and Hafiz Nadeem shared other three.
Surender and Chetan applied themselves and batted with responsibility, hitting 38 and 33, respectively.
Qatar overcame some anxious moments before crossing over the finish line with three three wickets intact and two balls to spare. Faisal led the chase and contributed 34. Kamran (21), Khurram (18) and Inam (16) played brief but quite crucial knocks.
Mujeeb (10) and Sajjad(8) chipped in useful runs to help Qatar see off the Singapore challenge in the 19.4 overs.
For Singapore, Dharmichand (three wickets) and Pramodh took five wickets between them. Kumar and Abhiraj picked one each.
Sajjad was declared the Man of the Match for his stellar performance.
