Rodney Hood gave himself a night to remember and retiring Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant one he’d like to forget on his final visit to Utah.
Hood hit eight triples en route to 30 points - all in the first half - and the Utah Jazz sent the Lakers to a franchise-tying worst loss, 123-75 on Monday.
“I was looking up to him since I was a little child,” Hood said of Bryant. “I told him he was the greatest of all-time. It was a great night, memories I’ll forever take.”
Considering their dismal 15-59 record, Bryant was not surprised after after the battering by 48 points tied their most-lopsided loss in team history. It matched a 142-94 thumping by the LA Clippers on March 7, 2014, when the star guard was out with an injury.
“We’ve got 15 wins this season,” said Bryant after suffering the worst loss of his illustrious 20-year career. “I mean, losing by 48 and we have 15 wins on the season - it’s not something new for us.  We’ve been getting drubbed all season.”
Lakers coach Byron Scott coach was fuming over the lack of effort by his young club who at times trailed by as many as 53.
“I don’t think we came to compete at all, I don’t think we showed up,” he said. “You have to show some pride, some heart in what you do for a living. It’s that simple.
“Show this organization you should be here and what wearing the Purple and Gold is all about.”
Shelvin Mack and Trevor Booker had 17 points apiece for Utah (37-37).  who remained in the seventh spot in the Western Conference playoff race.
