Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that acting upon a tip off from a secret source, the Drug Prevention Department personnel followed the young man and asked to search his vehicle. Though he put up strong resistance, a search was eventually carried out and packages of hashish totalling more than 2kg found hidden in different places inside the vehicle.
The police also found a sum of QR10,500 in the vehicle and traces of cigarettes mixed with hashish. But, the defendant claimed he had bought the drug at a cost of QR200,000 for his personal use as he had been consuming it for 18 months.
A test of his blood proved that he used to take hashish. Ultimately, the court convicted him of both drug consumption and drug dealing, the latter on account of the large quantity seized from him.
