A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced a Pakistani man to seven years in jail and a fine of QR200,000 for attempting to smuggle cocaine into the country for illicit trade.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday that the defendant was caught at Hamad International Airport as the customs officers doubted him. Upon searching him around 810gm of cocaine were found hidden in his shoes.
During the interrogation, he claimed that he was only transporting the illicit drugs for a person at his home country who paid him $500 to deliver the drug to another unidentified person in the country. The court convicted him based on the evidences submitted by the prosecution.
