Qatar’s Sheikh Ali bin Khalid al-Thani won the feature event of the third and final leg of the QNB Doha tour equestrian championship yesterday.
On the concluding day of the championship at Katara, Shiekh Ali guided Imperio Egipcio Milton to victory in the CSI 4* 160cm class, which carried a total prize money of QAR460,300. Saudi’s Khaled Abdulaziz al-Eid (Old Chap Tame) came second ahead of his countryman Abdullah al-Sharbatly (Roso Au Crosnier)
Meanwhile, al-Eid walked away with the QNB Doha Tour series trophy, which was awarded to the rider who won most points over the three legs.
Earlier, Ramzy al-Duhami of Saudi Arabia guided Garlic VH Kapelhof to victory in the CSI 48 145cm class, which carried a total prize bag of QAR130,000.
Garlic VH Kapelhof clocked a time of 58.21 seconds as al-Duhami picked up the top prize of QR32,500. Qatar’s Hamad al-Attiyah finished second with his ride Whitaker, while Turkey’s Omer Karaevli came third with Rabane De Sury.
In the CSI2* 145cm class, Qatar’s Rashid Towaim al-Marri emerged triumphant. Al-Marri paired with Kannada to come home in 36.07 seconds. France’s Cyrine Cherif (Ben D Aelsterhof) and Kuwait’s Ali al-Khorafi (Cheril) came second and third respectively.
