The Darfur Regional Authority (DRA) said yesterday that the Doha Peace Agreement has helped establish comprehensive peace in Darfur.
DRA Minister of Cabinet Affairs Youssef al-Tulaib said that the biggest gain was the progress made in terms of development.
He gave an example with the growth and trade and the construction of a number of airports in the region.
Speaking to Sudanese radio, he added that with the people of Darfur embracing peace militant groups have been weakened.
Al-Tulaib highlighted Qatar’s support to Darfur in a bid to boost the peace process. He noted that conditions in Darfur before the peace agreement were bad – full of violence and wars. That  situation completely changed after the signing of the agreement.
