The contributions of Japanese companies in the power and water sectors of Qatar have grown considerably over the years, said Executive Vice-President of Mitsubishi Corporation Katsuya Nakanishi.
Nakanishi said this at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Umm Al Houl Integrated Water and  Power Project (IWWP) yesterday.
He recalled that he has been extremely familiar with the growth of the utilities sector in Qatar ever since his first arrival here in the late 70s. Nakanishi said Mitsubishi which began as an equipment supplier to power and water facilities in this country has evolved into a stakeholder, participating in the development of a number of projects over the years.
Mitsubishi Corporation, he said, is now not only a share holder in a number of local projects but has also associated with the country’s infrastructural development in a big way of late. Nakanishi also made a mention about his company’s supply of essential machinery and equipment for the operations of the Doha Metro which is expected to be operational in the second quarter of 2019.
The Mitsubishi official said in their active co-operation for more than 40 years, Japan has realised the potential for further development in the utility sectors in Qatar.
