Renowned international and local chefs will take centre stage on Friday at Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park for the fourth day of the Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) 2016.

Visitors will have the chance to learn some healthy eating tips from the ‘Healthy Food Show’ presented by world renowned chef Alain Ducasse.

The show is part of the healthy food initiative introduced by Qatar Museums chairperson HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.

Chef Ducasse will also be joined by French nutritionist Valerie Espinasse from 4pm to 4.35pm, IDAM restaurant’s Frederic Larquemin from 6pm to 6.40pm, and Qatari sports personality Nasser al- Attiya from 7.30pm to 8pm at the show today.

A number of characters from Baraem TV are also expected to entertain and engage young visitors with their performance at the children’s zone.

“The QIFF 2016 offers attendees a myriad of experiences, some of which are familiar from past years and others that are brand new,” Qatar Tourism Authority’s Festivals and Tourism Events director Mashal Shahbik said.

QIFF’s two satellite venues have also been receiving a large number of visitors in the past three days.

Chef Vineet Bhatia of Indego, Dubai will perform at a live cooking demo from 4pm to 4.30pm at The Pearl Qatar while chef Paul Bentley of Magno Brasserie, Mexico and chef Jesus Escalera of La Posteria in Mexico are also expected to wow the audience with their cooking prowess from 5.30pm to 6pm.

Chef Tim Butler of Eat Me Restaurant in Thailand will present how to cook some of the best Thai dishes at 6pm. In the same venue, the Doha Film Institute will be screening “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” at 7.30pm.

Meanwhile, Katara – the Cultural Village will feature various entertainments and live cooking sessions from 3pm to 9pm at the esplanade.

Some of the top restaurants such as Lwazaar (sea food) and Zafron (Indian cuisine) at the Village are participating this year, offering a diverse range of dishes at affordable prices.

“The physical expansion of the festival to Katara and The Pearl Qatar this year presents more opportunities for residents and visitors to celebrate their common passion for food around Doha,” Shahbik said.

“Food has the unique ability to transcend individual cultures and, we are sure that QIFF 2016 offers all visitors a diverse culinary and cultural experience,” she added.
