Indian social activist Palakkad Abdul Salam, who has been rendering voluntary service in repatriating bodies of numerous expatriates for more than a decade, was honoured by the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC).

In recognition of his humanitarian services, Salam was presented a memento by NHRC's Legal Affairs director Jabir al-Huwail at a function organised to mark the Arab Human Rights Day Celebrations. The event was held under the aegis of the Human Rights and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and Qatar Police College.

Qatar Police College director general Brigadier Mohamed Abdullah al-Mohannad al-Murri, MoI's Human Rights Department assistant director Lt Col Saad Salim al-Dosari and UN Human Rights Centre for Training and Documentation director Obaid Ahmed al-Obaid were present on the occasion.
