A six-month closure on both directions of the Temporary Truck Route (TTR), stretching 5km north of Salwa Road towards Lusail will be in place from Saturday.

The access to the Doha West Sewage Treatment Plant will also be closed (as shown in the map). The closure will last until September 26.

During the period, both directions of the two existing lanes will be closed in two phases. Traffic will be diverted to an alternative road with the same number of lanes. The diversion will be located on the left side of the TTR adjacent to the closed road.

The first stage of the closure includes a full closure and diversion of traffic to the southbound lane toward Salwa Road.

The second stage takes place 24 hours later and includes the closure of the northbound lane towards Lusail while traffic will be diverted to the new lane (as shown in the map). A new roundabout will be built on the temporary road to provide safe passage from both directions to the entrance of the Doha West sewage plant.

The speed limit will be reduced to 80km for light vehicles and 50km for trucks and heavy vehicles all along the diversion route to ensure the safety of road users and the project’s workforce.

The diversion is required to allow for the construction of the proposed bridge and part of the new road, as part of the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route Project, (Contract 2).
