A 43-year-old Indian expatriate was found dead in an accommodation on Street 45 of the Doha Industrial Area on Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Neyyan Antony Joshi, was running a restaurant in Al Attiyah Market and also operated a catering firm, sources told Gulf Times.

Joshi had been in the country for a little over five years, one of his immediate relatives said. Joshi hailed from Chemmannoor, near Guruvayoor in Kerala's Thrissur district.

The relative said Joshi took the extreme step reportedly owing to financial reasons. He had taken over the operations of two small manpower firms, which together employed about 60 persons. However, their functioning got paralysed because of the delay in receiving payments for the works executed, it is understood.

Joshi's wife and two children were in Doha on a visit, four months ago. Community members described Joshi as a lively and friendly man, who was very supportive to his workers. "However, he was a little disturbed of a late owing to financial reasons," said a person known to him closely.

Social worker Abdul Salam Palakkad said efforts are being made to send the body home. "Once all documents are received, we would approach concerned authorities for the repatriation of the body," he said. Joshi was the 14th Indian expatriate in Qatar to take his life in the last three months, Salam added.
