Passengers and crew of Qatar Airways flight QR196 bound for Doha were safe but remained stuck in Belgium following yesterday’s blasts at Brussels Airport and its subsequent closure.
When checked late in the evening yesterday, the flight status on the website of Qatar Airways indicated that QR196 was “delayed”, while that on the Hamad International Airport website said it was “expected”.
The passengers were originally scheduled to leave Terminal M of Brussels Airport at 9am and arrive in Doha at 5.05pm (both local times).
Gulf Times learnt from the Qatar Airways call centre that the passengers and crew were safe but remained stuck in Brussels following the closure of the airport.
In a travel alert posted on its website, the airlines, which flies daily to Belgium, said: “Qatar Airways flights to and from Brussels Airport may be subject to delay or cancellations following the closure of the airport.
“Passengers holding booked tickets are advised to call Qatar Airways’ 24-hour call centre on +974 4023 0000 for more information and the re-booking options being made available to them.”
