The MoU was signed as part of the National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) to extend it to the school education system. Tarsheed is being pursued under the patronage of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
The MoU was signed by Kahramaa’s Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department manager and senior engineer Abdul Aziz Ahmad al-Hammadi, and Ministry of Education and Higher Education's Office of the Independent Schools director Khalifa al-Dirham.
Speaking on the occasion, al-Hammadi said the mission of Tarsheed is to promote the culture of conservation and ensure rational consumption of electricity and water in Qatar by creating an ideal environment and achieving successful social partnerships.
“The efforts of all sectors are required to achieve Tarsheed's objectives, especially the key role played by the education sector to influence the behaviour of the younger generation at an early stage of life will certainly add value to the programme,” he added.
Ministry of Education and Higher Education's Education Institute Fawziya al-Khater said the partnership will help in promoting the culture of conservation, contributing to the environment.
The MoU covers six major areas pertaining to Conservation and Energy Efficiency for school curriculum, involving together in students’ activities, raising and training the capabilities of the faculties in the arena.
The co-operation between Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Kahramaa for Tarsheed programme is being continued since the launching of the programme in 2012 in various ways including awareness programme for students in schools, organising activities on conservation and Tarsheed’s T22 project among others.
