The delegation included Ali al-Gharib, centres director, QC local development; Nayef al-Rumaihi, manager of public relations; Ahmed Saleh al-Ali, communications manager; and Hamed Shehada, head of community responsibility management at QC.
The QC delegation was received by Saleh bin Saad al-Mana, vice-president and director of government and public relations; and Mohamed Hashem al-Hashemi, consultant for government and public affairs, ExxonMobil Qatar.
The visit marked the conclusion of events as part of the “spring programme” for future leaders, which was conducted by QC and funded by ExxonMobil.
“The programme included several scientific activities carried out in an innovative environment of learning, creativity and fun. It targeted children aged 10-17 years and the events were held from January 24 to February 4,” according to a statement.
On the occasion, al-Ali said: “QC is proud to enter into a partnership with ExxonMobil that aims to serve the local community. QC, thus, thanks ExxonMobil for its efforts.”
He stressed that many of the students who participated in the activities funded by ExxonMobil Qatar were happy to get such an opportunity.
"We’re delighted to have supported Qatar Charity in 2015 to realise the Education for Orphans programme, held in collaboration with Qatar Scientific Club," said al-Mana. “We place great emphasis on finding meaningful ways to contribute to Qatar’s thriving society, and our work with Qatar Charity is an example of how local establishments help us achieve this."
Meanwhile, al-Gharib said the summer activities planned for future leaders included education, entertainment and sports, which would help develop their skills and capabilities to shoulder the burdens of life.
Shehada thanked ExxonMobil for sponsoring QC’s programmes and being aware of its social role and responsibility. He also commended its interest in programmes with sustainable effects that would help the beneficiaries in the long term.
At the end of the visit, al-Rumaihi handed over a certificate of appreciation and QC’s memorial shield to al-Mana.
ExxonMobil had previously sponsored QC’s “Ramadan Village” programme, which included a heritage exhibition suitable for all family members.
