United Development Company (UDC) collaborated with Qatar Tourism Authority to participate in the Earth Hour celebrations on Saturday.
UDC supported the initiative by powering down superfluous lights at all of its common areas on The Pearl-Qatar for an hour, from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.
“Participation in this environmental decision-making is effectively aimed at raising awareness among the Qatari society about the importance of turning off all unnecessary lights for one hour. In turn, this will demonstrate a commitment in supporting a better world, preserving sustainable power for one hour and to observe and join Earth Hour communities around the world in order to protect the environment for future generations,” according to a statement.
“Earth Hour has always been an important corporate and community-wide initiative for UDC. This initiative encourages UDC employees, residents and customers to participate in this global event as the underlying issue continues to be a significant one that affects all. The participation in Earth Hour reminds all on reducing the carbon footprint and drives all to continue furthering in conservation and environmental protection,” it added.
Conserving energy and protecting the environment are key strategic imperatives for United Development Company and its flagship island development, The Pearl-Qatar.
