Doha Criminal Court has sentenced an Indian expatriate man to five years in prison, dismissal from his public post, and subsequent deportation.

Local Arabic daily reported yesterday that the court ordered him to pay back a sum of QR972,323 and the same amount as a fine. The defendant was convicted by the court for stealing 490 phones owned by his employer.

The court documents affirmed that the convict stole phones by entering false information on the computer system at his work place. He also sold the mobiles and entered into the system false information and kept the price of the mobile sets, for himself.
