The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has allocated seven new locations for Al Furjan (neighbourhood) markets, Central Municipal Council chairman Mohamed bin Hammoud al-Shafi has said.
Four of these are in the Rawdat Aba Al Hayran area and three in New Al Rayyan.
Al-Shafi said the MME’s move came in response to a request from him as the representative of constituency number 14, adding that regarding his request to allocate similar plots in the Al Luqta and Al Wajbah areas, the department concerned is reviewing the matter as part of the fifth stage of the Al Furjan markets project.
He stressed that he would continue following up on the implementation of the seven new markets with all the entities concerned in the country until the work was accomplished.
