Qatar’ continued to win medals in the 2nd Qatar International Taekwondo Open Championship. The four-day event, which started on March 12, saw the hosts winning 37 medals on the opening day while an additional 41 were added to the tally on the second day. Over 400 athletes from 30 countries are taking part in the championship which is being held at the Aspire Zone Ladies’ Sports Hall in Doha. On Sunday, Qatar made a complete domination of the cadet men’s -61kg category as the country’s representatives, Amr Moustafa, Youssef Elkasabgy and Alexandre Saillant won the gold, silver and bronze, respectively. The Qatari athletes also had a strong showing in the junior women’s +63kg with Myar Mukthar narrowly losing the gold to Tunisia’s Ameni Layouni while in the cadet men’s -53kg, Ojan al-Khayaren and Mohamed Reda Khir won the silver and bronze respectively.
