HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani inaugurated the enhanced facility of the Bone and Joint Centre, a branch of Hamad General Hospital, at the Old Salata area on Monday and the Enaya Continuing Care Centre in Muaither.
The Prime Minister toured the upgraded Bone and Joint Centre where he was briefed about the expansion, which included the addition of 4,500 sqm of floorspace, along with the development of the centre’s facilities and new services.
The enhanced facility provides a huge increase in terms of capacity and efficiency in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
It also regulates the services in appropriate and comfortable way through the provision of 19 new treatment rooms, pain management and anesthesia, and rooms for physiotherapy, as well as a multi-purpose room for private clinical observation and mass incidents injuries.
The centre has a dedicated team of nurses and healthcare professionals and specialises in delivering outpatient services for fractures, paediatric orthopaedic, spine, foot and ankle injuries, anthroplasty (surgery of the joint) and sports medicine.
The centre will include expanded radiology facilities, male and female fracture clinics and a dedicated bone and joint elective clinic.
The Enaya Continuing Care Centre in Muaither aims to provide psychosocial healthcare outside the scope of hospitals.
The Premier toured the new centre and was briefed about its facilities and services which include healthcare and psychosocial support for children, adults and the elderly.
Enaya is an important development for psychological health services provided by the State of Qatar, providing mental healthcare for children and teenagers, and a daycare programme for women who are above 18 years and suffer long-term psychological problems.
The centre also offers psychological healthcare for adults in their homes, where a special team follows up patients with psychological problems and provides support for them. A similar service is also provided for the elderly who need psychological support and continuing medical treatment in their residence.
The Premier and Interior Minister was accompanied by HE the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan al-Kuwari and senior officials at Hamad Medical Corporation.
