A Doha Misdemeanour Court has sentenced an Egyptian expatriate man to six months’ suspended jail term for trying to smuggle a small amount of the illicit drug hashish and tramadol pills.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday that the man was trying to enter Qatar with the drugs when the custom officers suspected him and ordered a thorough search. During the investigation, he admitted having such drugs for personal use only. However, the court ordered his release on a bail of QR3,000 and ordered him to pay a fine of QR5,000.
